Gray/Silver Hair Maintenance

Keeping this hair gray is a lot of work but thankfully it isn’t difficult! I colored my hair silver a month ago and for those of you who are curious about the process, here is what my hairdresser did..
He bleached my hair until it was whiteish but some yellow tones still remained. That process took 3 rounds of bleach (OUCH). I know, I know it’s very damaging. I was briefed by my hairdresser and was already mentally prepared to cut off all my hair if anything bad happened lol. He told me it would look great but I would have to take extra care of my hair. I hear there are other ways to get it done
where it’s less damaging like bleach once a week until you achieve the desired color and deep condition for a month etc. but I wanted it done in 1 day. After my hair was a good shade of white, he added a toner called Ash for about 20 minutes.
My hair turned out silver, exactly like the Ash swatch in the color book.

After the 1st wash, I noticed some hints of ashy blonde (see photo#2) and I called my hairdresser in a panic thinking those 6 hours were all a waste and he assured that it’s normal and gave me a list of things to purchase for maintenance.
1. Adore Semi Permanent Hair Color in Platinum ($4.99)
2. Roux Fanci-Full Rinse in Silver Lining ($8.99)
3. A mixing bowl and brush.
For those of you with gray hair, any suggestions on what shampoo and conditioner I should get?
I shampoo my hair, towel dry and pour a qtr of a bottle of the Adore in the bowl and apply it with the brush starting all over the roots then the ends and leave on for 15 minutes. This product will not harm your hair like a hair dye would since it doesn’t contain ammonia, peroxide or alcohol. After I wash and condition my hair, I apply the Fanci Full all over my head and I DO NOT RINSE. I leave it on for about 5-10 minutes before I blow dry my hair. VOILA! That’s it!
I use the Adore about once every two weeks or when I notice blonde peeking through and the Fanci Full after every wash. This isn’t much unless you have to wash your hair in the morning which I never do. I think the color is getting better and better. It’s lighter than when I first did it but I love it. 😬
Hope this post helped out my Silver Foxes out there or aspiring ones!
Stay Glowing,

I’m seriously obsessed with your cut and color! Can I get all the angles of your hair so when I go to the salon they can cut it right?!?
